Starting a Community Garden or Community Farm

"We sustain our organization by the donated services and goods offered by the community. We have many civic services that we provide to our communities including; fruit picking, gardeners' markets, and free classes/workshops. We seek to work closely with ALL cities and organizations to create similar groups within their communities. We love giving ideas and support to such groups, wherever they may be."

Want to start a Community Garden or Community Farm?

Where to begin?

We can help! We started off as the "Holladay Community Garden" because all three of the gardens we managed were located in the City of Holladay (Casto Home Garden, Patch Garden Project, Farmers Market Garden). When we "branched" out of Holladay, the original name did not seem as inclusive. We thought about calling us "Utah Community Gardens" but figured, why stop there? "Earth" seemed to be more inclusive. But now with water possibly being discovered on Mars, who knows . . . ? So now we are Earth Community GARDEN, not gardenS, because we all live in one big garden. The word "gardens" seems to divide rather than unite. Each of us lives on this big Garden called Earth, and we must all do our part to make sure our portion of the garden is cared for and tended. Whether it is; your own yard, the area outside your apartment, your business, your play area, or the future site of one of these, we should all feel the need to beautify our surroundings in a responsible and sustainable way.

Our Mission
  • Provide/maintain regenerative-organic community gardens.
  • Actively preserve green spaces and open spaces.
  • Create a stronger community by providing healthy pantry food, at no cost to those in need of nutritional assistance.
  • Educate the public by raising awareness about; the environment, environmental regeneration, xeriscaping, organic gardening & land cultivation by encouraging community involvement.
  • Raise funds for regenerative-organic community gardens/farms and community garden/farm events.
Our Organization

Earth Community Garden is a 501c3 nonprofit organization formerly known as Holladay Community Garden. Both Earth Community Garden & Food Pantry and Holladay Community Garden act as an umbrella organization for various community gardens all over. We manage, sponsor and invest in gardens that look to bring about community building as well as peace and justice through sound methods of tending to gardens. Each garden that we develop, promote, or fund is unique in regards to how the garden operates with the populations they serve. For specific information on a particular garden, feel free to contact us. HAPPY GARDENING!

Teaching Others

We want to help you start a community garden in your neighborhood! We also want to help you manage an existing community garden, and move beyond sustainability into regeneration. Part of Our Mission is to "Educate the public..." This includes the active teaching of those who have the ability to make positive changes in environmental practices. We strive to empower minds to continually seek out innovative methods that improve the Earth's systems. We try to teach basic foundations and sound gardening principles, because one never knows who will be the next to revolutionize Earth's "community garden."
